I'm currently a former student from Yadkin Early College. Now, I'll be a super senior at Surry Early College. Mr. Kimmer and Mr. Groce are amazing. They understand and help each student. Please, don't let them go. They are part of a big family. A school.

For those of you commenting and signing this petition, please make sure you understand that it was a CHOICE both made to leave. They were not forced to leave. Please make sure you know facts before you start things like this. YEC still has a wonderful staff, and Mr. GARRETT will do his absolute best for YEC. The staff will too.

Mr. Kimmer and Mr. Groce are the definition of what staff of an Early College should be. Taking the person who founded our school and the one who has been there since practically the beginning will hurt the basis of our school. It may be difficult to find a principal with the values and understanding of our school than Mr. Kimmer, which is why he is best for the position at Yadkin Early College, and Groce’s character and interaction with the student body is a big part of why our school is such a great place to be. If we lose them, we will have lost a big part of our school, and our school’s character.

Although I am a Yadkin Early College graduate, I believe Mr. Groce and Mr. Kimmer are a large part of what made me so successful and that I would not be in the place I am now without them. The Early College works so well because the students have a personal relationship with the faculty and staff. Removing this dynamic will lead to fewer cases of success and more frustration for everyone involved, including parents. Although the new staff member may be qualified for the job, they have not spent years building the dynamics that allow our students to respect one another, the faculty and staff, and the facilities. Every student should a chance at being the best they can be but removing that chance from the Early College students is unfair. I also know the faculty and staff that are currently employed at the Early College will greatly miss both of these outstanding educators. Due to our small staff size already, we will be left in a spot where it may be hard to reach every student one on one. Perhaps it would be better to allocate part of the budget to hire equally as outstanding educators for the new positions instead of tearing down the foundation of a current establishment.

Mr. Kimmer and Mr. Groce are essential to keeping our school successful. We have had a 100 percent passing rate of graduates for the past 4 years. Mr. Kimmer truly cares about our students and staff, not simply the school. He is always careful to do what is in the best interest of everyone. There have been many times in which he has solved issues at school. No one else took control of things like he did. Mr. Groce is a great advocate to all of his students and would leave many without a mentor to go to.
Additionally, Mr. Kimmer and Mr. Groce are familiar with the way the early college works. Mr. Kimmer has always been attentive with all of us and wants us to succeed. The YEC is like his family. Please don’t let our primary leader leave.

I was some backwoods, shy teenager when I came it, and I left the valedictorian with a free ride to UNC. I could have never done it without them. Mr. Kimmer and Mr.Groce were and continue to be instrumental to the success of the Early College that helped to create the guy that I am today.

Mr. Kimmer built this school and has made it what it is today. No one could ever replace him. Mr. Groce is an amazing teacher and is by far the favorite teacher at the early college. Starmount does not deserve these two great educators. They're not deserving of them when they waste their opportunities to do well in school because they do not care.
