The local authorities have officially restored the original boundaries for the kite spot. I appreciate the time each of you invested in this cause to ensure the safe and continued use of these waters. We will continue to monitor the area to ensure that these regulations remain consistent.

Recently, a ban was placed on kitesurfing in the only kite spot on the island of Chios, Greece, due to it's proximity to an airfield.
We understand and respect the rationale for having an airfield safe zone. However, the new safe zone extends well beyond the area initially allocated by the marine police, and effectively bans use of the only kite spot on the island.
We are collecting signatures to return the safe zone to its original size, allowing Chios to remain a home for kiters.
We would greatly appreciate your help.

I have been in communication with local aviation authorities to clarify the safety boundaries currently impacting our coastal access. While a formal resolution remains pending, the continued growth of this petition ensures that our request for a review of the zone remains a priority.

I was the first back at 2002 who discovered this place. The other was at the sailing club. I believe you find a solution
I learnt to kite in CHIOS 10 years ago. sinc that time I am coming every year to visit CHIOS, friends, and practise my favorite sport. I would like to understand why this ban in fact. A starting zone and landing zone away for airport with geographical clear limitations could allow to ride with no risk on airfield?
Kite was banned for NOT serious reason, we want this adrenaline sport back !!!

We should find a compromise instead of completely banning the sport. For example ban kite surfing towards the airport but allow towards the other side/deeper water .
