Unbelievable. An excellent meteorologist. I guess quality isn’t what the station is looking for. You can not get the quality that Kelly brought to the station everyday. Trusted expertise and engaging narrative that only a local can deliver. Channel 10s poor decision will open a better opportunity for Kelly.

I would love to see weekly half hour Kelly show explaining the previous weeks forecast/outcome and also looking to the future. Saturday mornings meant it was a Kelly morning a reason to get out of bed and see what the day will bring. No one explains the weather the she does always making it educational. She is the reason I had to find out what cause the wind.

You have got to be kidding me. How could WJAR let this woman walk away? She’s fun, she’s SO nice, and, most importantly, she knows her weather! I’ve learned so much just by watching her all these years. She should apply elsewhere! A station would have to be foolish not to have her on their team. I miss her so much. At first, I hoped she was on vacation. Sadly, that was not the case. Shame on you, Channel 10.

I will not watch channel 10 news anymore until you bring Kelly back. News flash sounds like age discrimination to me

I loved growing up watching Kelly Bates, we all did. There was no reason for her to be fired. She did her job well

It is clear that Kelly was treated unfairly and the spin that WJAR management is attempting is not an accurate depiction of the truth. I have nothing but trust and respect for Kelly as she has well earned it over the 17 yrs I have been watching her. I have now made the move the channel 12 as I will not support an organization that treats its employees with such disregard. Goodbye Channel 10 after more than 25 yrs of continued loyalty.
