Typical of Sinclair to party on the Republican agenda that they promote, by offering her less in a new contract by not allowing Kelley access to other shifts and OT. The scum that is Sinclair raises its head from the sand. Kelley is a jewel. She delivers the weather expertly. I will no longer watch WJAR. This is the last straw. I used to each for Bates and a few others and held my nose at the Sinclair propaganda. This is the final straw.

I have to say iam very shocked at WJAR. I have been a WJAR fan since i was a kid, some 60 years ago. Miss Bates was treated unfairly, and should be given her chance to come back. She is an excellent meteorologist, and i really think WJAR went to far this time. I am all done watching WJAR NEWS anymore. You just showed Rhode Islanders what you really are. She had over 17 years and it was just fair enough to sideline Anthony, the newest. You guys made the biggest mistake of your lives……….

One of the reasons I watch the news ESPECIALLY on Sundays is for Kelly Bates . Her weather forecasts and smile are always GENUINE ....a Meteorologist filling in to do TRAFFIC ?! That is the ULTIMATE TEAM PLAYER . Keep that in mind WJAR and give Kelly what she DESERVES ! Until I see her face back on air , I will NO LONGER watch WJAR News .

I don't know Kelly but she is as professional as they come. As a former evening news anchor at NBC10 and later a long time evening news anchor and news director at ABC6, I understand the economic pressures that were unheard of years ago. But Kelly, with 17 years experience and a pro on the air, deserves to be retained. Sinclair Broadcasting has sullied the reputation of NBC10 with its intrusive conservative political agenda compromising the station's news broadcasts and the station's long time reputation. We don't know what the station offered Kelly but from news stories it seemed they were using the alleged low-ball contract as a way to send her packing. Once again, the management has shot itself in the foot...and proceeded to reload.
