I watch Kelly Bates because SHE brings the sunshine every. day. As a life-long Rhode Islander, I am personally DISGUSTED with the decisions made by WJAR which were not only completely unfounded, but discriminatory and harmful. This not only signals to Kelly where your values are, but to every single one of your viewers. Anyone involved in this egregious decision making should be ASHAMED of themselves. Your mothers would be just as thoroughly disappointed as the rest of us NBC 10 viewers. You are disgraceful, reprehensible human beings unworthy of your titles and salaries. No fellow Rhode Islander of mine, and THOROUGHLY un-American. Give us back the woman who has dedicated TWENTY FIVE YEARS OF HER LIFE to your channel. If this "hot young thing" is willing to put in the time and the hard work, I am sure someday she will also be deserving of the position that belongs to Kelly Bates.

I have been a loyal viewer of channel 10 news for years, early morning news as well as the evening news. I find the dismissal of Kelly Bates very disturbing. I believe your station views her size as a problem. I will never watch channel 10 again and will tell all of my friends, family and neighbors to do the same.
If I were in charge of the station I would be more concerned with your evening anchors be more professional and less giddy!!

Kelly Bates is too Good to work for anyone who would do this to her, and "Karma" or God giving each of us, what we deserve regarding how we've lived our lives.
Kelly will be the "One" who ends up where she will be most "Blessed" deservingly so. What they did to her, just got the ball rolling sooner than later. This is a Blessing in Disguise!!!

Kelly is a breath of fresh air and is wonderful at her job and I looked forward to her weather reports. Its so nice to see a "normal" looking person on tv instead of all these plastics. Channel 10's loss for losing this RI staple!!!

Well I can say channel 10 news will not be watched in this household any longer. I can't believe that Kelly was let go for being a 49 yr old round woman. Is this also the reason Lindsay left a couple of weeks ago? What was in the new contract 10 is saying was offered? Honestly how can this happen? She was the best one at 10 in my opinion.
