WJAR should be ashamed of themselves. I'm sure they are doing this to fill her spot with someone they see as more attractive. I can't see any other reason. Kelly is professional, funny, relatable and above all great at her job.

I loved watching Kelly Bates with her winning personality and her spot on weather report. Channel 10 has made a big mistake in letting her go. #BringBackKellyBates

Love her! Kelly deserves to be employed not necessarily because of her weight or that she is a woman but by her merit! She is a terrific meteorologist with great appeal in reporting the weather. That alone should speak for itself. I do like others at WJAR, Mark Searles at night, but if Kelly Bates is not reinstated I will not be watching any. Count me out.

I will not watch the news unless Kelly is on! She is great at her profession! I've also met her out at the bakery running errands and she's just a delight! Bad move channel 10 really bad move! Please rethink your decision!

How does one let go an employee that not only just received "Best of RI" award but tells a story with the forecast as only a seasoned pro can, much more personable and professional.

Terrible. Sinclair sucks. They took over station in Maine and now they are here. I’ve been moving to TV12 news ever since.

Shocked at Kelly's dismissal she was as joy to watch and her knowledge immeasurable. I will not be watching WJAR going forward. Kelly don't go back to WJAR ever. They rot.

Kelly Bates is an amazing meteorologist and I enjoyed her forecasts every weekend. It is obvious that Kelly was very sad about leaving WJAR and I may never know the answer of why she left; but I truly hope it is not for reasons that have been mentioned in various posts. I do however feel in my heart, that she was done wrong and because of that feeling, I cannot in good conscience continue to watch channel 10. It will never be the same. My guess is that this petition will not bring her back but if by miracle it does, then I will be happy to watch again.
