The really beautiful thing here is that we all came together as a GSMST community to do this :)

The intervention is nice for me especially because of the 504 plan I Have, it allows for me to easily meet with my teachers to finish and/ or work through things dealing with this and also it allows for me to finish up tests and quizzes without having to leave and come back, which is extremely nice because my parents have a tight schedule and cannot always get me before or after school and I cannot yet drive. It would create a very stressful environment again if this were taken away, (there were several classes I tried this with originally, and the bet and easiest way to do such was through intervention) actually I even did such today for my math class. Also, teachers like Dr. Richardson and Mr. Appelbaum who have zero periods do not have time in their mornings to meet with the students, and some cannot be there that early, so we go to these teachers during intervention to practice or get help from them with our pass-offs and without this time we won't have any time at all to go in to seek help. Several of the students use this wisely. And if any of the students mistreat their intervention times, then maybe mandatory intervention should be issued, because it is a definite privaledge, so if it is mistreated if can be taken away, but please, PLEASE Do not take away this time next year because students such as myself will have this helpful time taken away and honestly I do not know how I could get all of this done without it. I understand the next 48 days are countu wide, so not much can be done, but next year is definitely a different story. Thank you for listening, and please take my words into consideration.

I believe we need intervention back. Intervention gives you time and a little break from school. Intervention is a time to work with your teachers if you're failing or just chill and hang out with friends. Without this time, student won't get a break. Instead of ending intervention we should do make a compromise in order to keep intervention, but still have this roll along period.

I believe this time is very important to give to the students of GSMST. For one, with the workload given to students and after school activities, this time gives us social time with friends. In addition, students can seek academic help during intervention. If not for intervention, students and teachers would have to stay after school for academic help with their courses. Even though extra time will be added to the courses, doesn't mean we will understand the material, so it is important to give us this time to seek help.

There are multiple ways to get back our school days besides completely eradicating our intervention. Having the rigorous curriculum of GSMST for nearly 8 hours straight is too much on the students.

No matter what happens, I feel that they don't really have a reason to take away intervention next year... I mean, yeah, I won't be here, but intervention is the last-minute back up for kids that can't make it to school for extra help or extracurriculars before or after school. Not everyone lives really close to the school, and not everyone has a consistent ride. In the absence of sports, other extracurriculars are what help GSMST students really identify with their school. I feel like everyone should get the opportunity to participate in something regardless of whether they have a ride. Also, we already have 7 periods as is, or 8 for some. Most GCPS high schools only have 6. Do we really need to cram in even more instructional time? Why fix what's not broken... And what happens to everyone that goes out to the field or down to the gym during intervention? Just that just die on the spot? It's hard for a lot of us to find time to exercise regularly outside of school. And a few more girls were just starting to show up, too.

GSMST's choice to have a free 20 minute period daily is one of the unique qualities that makes me proud to say that GSMST is my high school, and my second home. Students were able to utilize this time to their advantage, whether it be studying for a math test or hanging out with friends. Now, the school day will be extended to 8 periods (or 9 periods for honor band/orchestra members), whereas most GCPS schools only have 6. With the amount of work rigor that GSMST students already deal with on a daily basis, intervention was the one part of the day that students could be free of academic stress. Without intervention, the stress levels in this school can skyrocket, causing teenagers to lose academic self-confidence. The administration's choice to remove intervention did not use any input from the students nor the teachers, as I know many of them despise this decision. What happened to our infamous catchphrase- "WE ARE GSMST?" Please bring intervention back for the sake of the students.

Intervention was a nice time to forget the stress and workload around us. Through this time we were able to relax, meet new people and socialize as well as work on homework that would relieve our work load for that night. Please bring back intervention.

I can't believe that the administration is making decisions without giving the students and the teachers a voice. We are the ones going through GSMST and know what needs to be done not them. The teachers are the ones teaching us and know what they need to do to catch us up. Intervention is one of the best things about this school. Students who are struggling get the help the need and the students aren't get a break to forget about the stress of being at one of the most challenging schools in the USA.

Given that GSMST has a rigouruos curriculum I donot believe that the removal of intervention will help any of the students, failing or not, or teachers. Intervention is an essential part of the school day where help can be administered to students either by other students or their teachers. It is a time to relax or catch up. Without intervention the school day wold be more stressful even for the smartest of students. This is why WE NEED INTERVENTION.
