I am collecting signatures from people that would like Novartis to bring back Interceptor for heartworm prevention. When you go to the Interceptor website the following comment comes up and then directs you to the Sentinel website.
"We're no longer producing Interceptor Flavor Tabs, but we're
happy to introduce an even smarter option for heartworm protection. Sentinel®
(milbemycin oxime/lufenuron) Flavor Tabs® provide the same exceptional
protection against heartworms plus they protect against fleas, too. All at a
price similar to Interceptor Flavor Tabs. If you could get more protection for your dog at a
comparable price, why wouldn't you?"
My question is, if I don't have to protect against fleas, why give your dog an addition toxin he doesn't need?
If we can get at least 1,000 signatures I will be sending the petition to the marketing department at Novartis. Today I was informed the decision to stop producing Interceptor was solely decided by the marketing department of Novartis based upon the convenience that consumers want and not necessary based upon the best options for parasite control for our dogs.
