Upon speaking with Dan Cole (the Vice President) we have realised that starting the shuttle bus would disappoint many students due to a limited capacity and only benefits a few selection of people (those in the city centre & Smithdown, not those who live elsewhere.)

For students who live in the city centre, it is fairly easy to commute to the campus, but it is very costly with accommodation, food and other expenses. It costs on average £16.20 a week on buses to and from the city centre.

For students who live off the Smithdown Rd it costs on average £6 each way in a taxi to IM Marsh, it is possible to get the University of Liverpool bus, but the first bus begins at half nine, a time that is not suitable for people with 9am starts. It is also possible to get two buses to get to IM Marsh but that is not a reasonable mode of transport as it is very time consuming and costly.

However LJMU has offered a grant of £150 an annual bus pass however this is only available to those living in Halls, which is mainly first year students.

2nd/3rd YEAR STUDENTS:would you be happy with a travel pass for buses and trains for free or half price? ANSWER IN DISCUSSION PLEASE :)

I think that the pass would have to be in reason, though. Like, it would be really cheeky if someone got a pass when they were only 1 mile away from their campus. There should be distance limits with it otherwise people would just take advantage. Yes, we do pay £9,000 a year, but I'd like to see my money go to other causes too, such as enriching experiences like trips with university and more social events to help with the experience outside of the classes... if it goes on some people who really need the pass, then fine, but the limit thing would really help keep it fair.

The travel pass if it was paid entirely by the university, but otherwise the shuttle bus!
It's not fair on us, even if we get 150 back from uni because all the students in town don't have any such extra expenses. It seriously impairs our student experience! We're paying 9000 a year and it doesn't even include transport, that's ridiculous.

    Just a quick question?
Would IM Marsh students prefer the shuttle bus or the travel pass?
