I am calling out to the people of the United States and even other countries to help my good friend, Tamiris Suffi Dos Santos, get her father back, and to shorten the time penalty for living within the United States illegally. In 2010, her and her sister moved into the United States with their mother but the immigration laws made in extremely hard for her father to come along with them. Back in 2004, they all lived here together, as a family, but after the divorce of her parents she moved back to Brazil with her father and sister. During those six years her mother claimed citizenship in the United States, allowing Tamiris and her sister to move back. In the last few months I noticed a change in Tamiris’s behavior and attitude. Her grades started to drop dramatically and she never seemed as happy as when she first moved here, and tended to put herself down a lot. Over the weekend of April 19 to April 21, Tamiris was diagnosed with depression and anxiety for being apart from her father. I am asking, no begging, for you to help Tamiris get her father back. Can you imagine not to see your own parents for years because they live thousands of miles away. Try to picture what she is going through every day; being a 16 year old in high school without a father figure around to guide her in life because immigration service is making it difficult to bring him here to her and her family.
