I was baffled when my kids told me they couldn't celebrate Halloween anymore. We all celebrated it when we were in school and look we didn't all turn out to be crazed killers because we dressed up 1 day a year!

Removing every single holiday, event, or theme with the concern that someone can't be included or someone else will be offended does nothing but leave you with NOTHING to celebrate. The only thing removing a Halloween parade does is teach your students that you cannot enjoy something unless everyone else decides it's okay. You're taking away an opportunity to be creative and expressive in an environment that already has too many other aspects controlled. Let kids be kids and enjoy the last little bits of magic left in their childhood.

How could anyone take Halloween away from children? SHAME ON YOU! Dont you realize that fantasy play is essential for a child's brain development? It cant be common core, assessments, and testing all the time. GIVE THESE CHILDREN A BREAK AND BRING BACK HALLOWEEN CELEBRATIONS! THEY DESERVE IT!!!

My first Grader should be able to do this , as my older children really enjoyed get dressed up and parading around the school . It's all about children having fun .

Too many traditions being taken away. If you don't want your child to participate explain to him/her why. But DO NOT take away from the other children.

Keep the tradition and let the kids parade arorund in thier costume for Halloween . Make the parades at the end of the day if others don't want to participate let the parents pick up their kids early from school .
