Half-Day Wednesdays were a concept that was put together because of the COVID-19 pandemic to help teachers cope with the amount of work that they accumulated due to having people online and in person, but it has become much more than that. It has become an outlet for students and a way to destress from life. At OH we have busy schedules and always have something after school or at lunch with little time to ourselves. These half-day Wednesdays have allowed us to destress and unwind. We were able to get our homework done and go to bed at a reasonable time while still keeping our busy schedule. It was a middle of the week break and was a great help to us. Not just the students, but also the teachers benefited by these half days. Every teacher we’ve talked to says they used the half days to get their work done or attend meetings. They were glad they had them so they could spend their precious free time with their families or significant others. They do so much for our school and spend so much of their free time helping their students that it would only be fair to compensate them in this way.
