Please give Father back his role. What's happened is wrong. As Christians, we need to do what's right.

Fr Nick is a Faithful Friend plus our Spiritual advisor . To fire him is a disgrace for a Priest plus the community . He is always there for us.

Well Mr. (or Mrs.) Malaka, perhaps you are the one "diddling" with other people's children--what other reason would you have for posting as "anonymous?" What a disgusting, heinous thing to insinuate against my friend and priest Father Nick. Perhaps you're one of (or associated with) the few scumbags of the Parish council that have been fighting with Father Kastanas for the past few years. We all know most of what's been going on, the fighting, arguing, demeaning of women (mostly by that other scumbag Paul, I believe his name is) and bad-mouthing others at past meetings. What nice Christians you must be. Are (they) or you, the particular members of the council that could be stealing or committing some other despicable acts that you may guilty of and have been discovered? It is likely, otherwise the "Bishop" and/or whoever else made this decision has something to hide. I think it would have been clearly stated in that B.S. ambiguous letter, any specific "non-Christian" behavior that Father Kastanas is guilty of if this was the case. What a fool you must be (aside from a low-life) hence: Why you post as "anonymous." LOSER.

The firing or removal of such a wonderful person and priest is absurd and truly disturbing. If you have any common sense he deserves to remain in Arlington. God bless and good luck father Nick.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of the decision to let go Fr Kastanas. I will not attend nor contribute financially to this Church any longer.

We are saddened and angry to hear the news of the firing of our beloved priest. This is unacceptable! Father Nick is an outstanding human being and a dedicated and humble servant of God. Always available to graciously minister the word of God with simple elegance beyond his parish. He has been the pillar of St. Athanasios community for too long and does not deserve this type of immoral, unchristian, disrespectful and unsubstantiated DEFAMATION, which in our opinion only serves CHURCH POLITICS and reflects the desire of few. This move is NOT in the best interest of the parish and one wonders about the motivation behind such a shameful decision. It was embarrassing to read the Methodios statement on the parish website. One would think that the Metropolis should have used better judgement before allowing the posting of such an arrogant and derogatory letter. Furthermore, it is hypocritical for his Eminence to say he cares about the spiritual health of the Arlington community, while making such a controversial decision and notifying the priest through a third party via a letter while he had already left to go on vacation! Is that how you treat someone with 30 years of service? So much for leadership and ministry in a time of "turmoil" ! We would like to know where the Archidiocese is in this time of need. We expect intervention to right the wrong. REINSTATE THE PRIEST NOW! Michael, Stella, Nikki and Irini Billiris Nicholas and Hariklia Vallas.

I will not attend this church until his return. Its decisions like this that discourage younger people from being members of the Orthodox Church.

Father Nick is a good and honest man,His dealings are honest and truthful. His priest account to help people is to help and this is what it has been used for .The Bishop wants to take the money away from helping people and he wants control....sad,Who checks him????!!!!

FATHER NICK IS BEING OUSTED "BECAUSE OF HIS account that helps the needy as Father sees fit. This account is controlled by a priest and has been around a long time. The Arch Bishop decides to want this account and its records which necessarily aren't required by church law in many cases.I ask...who checks the bishop and his dealings????

Decision to remove Fr. Kastanas is very disappointing and troubling. Decision should not have been made without the involvement and input of the community.
