I believe that CT is a great use of time during school.

I guess I just don't understand why this is logical, if a kid misses a class, and needs to make it up, it can delay tests being returned for a long while, when a student may need to do corrections and get the retake finished when they have time. Not when it's the same cougar time as their class period. This doesn't take into account the many factors that influence a students decision of where to go, and why.
a beneficial necessity that does not deserve to be removed from oakton whatsoever.

So, from what I have heard from the teachers that were in this "committee" that decided this were to be "right." Those teachers said the reasons for their decision to change CT was to stop people from being off campus and out of the hallways. Apparently, there were too many people in the hall ways or off campus and now the school is structuring a whole new format that affects everyone. The simple solution is clearly being overthinked by the committee. I say, Instead of trying to change the cougar time format, put bigger punnishments on the students that are purposefully lurking in the hallways. Lastly, if students do not have a classroom to go, let them do work in the cafeteria atleast. This new format affects everyone and especially athletes, and it must be changed back.

I strongly believe that the cougar time system should be kept the same. (To admin) If your main issue with cougar time currently is attendance from students and students leaving the school, I do not think this is the best way to approach this problem. Out of 3000 students, only around 20-50 people leave the school. Most students utilize their time carefully, and retake tests, do hw, and get help from teachers if needed. People would still leave the school with the new system of cougar time, as they might be outraged with “flexing back” to classes, when classes are already 90 minutes long. Many people can’t stay after school to retake assignments because they don’t have a ride, or they may have sports activities. Retaking during cougar time is really effective, because it saves so much time. If some students decide not to take CT to an advantage, it is on them. Why should the rest of the students get punished when only a handful of students do not utilize their time well? Also, many students take numerous AP classes and are under a lot of stress when they get back home because of the amount of work they have to get done. Removing CT, will only increase their stress bc they will not be able to get any work done. We understand that cougar time is a privilege, but why do you want to change the system if it is beneficial to students in many ways?

This is not fair to students who use their cougar times productively and wisely. Why should the majority of people who utilize this privellege correctly be punished due to a handful of students who do not. Very unfair.

Cougar Time is the only time where I can review with my teachers and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who can’t stay after school due to other plans. Just because a couple of students roam around the hallways doesn’t mean you should take away Cougar Time for the rest of us, it means that the administration needs to deal with those students in the right way.
