On Monday April 15th Chowan University decided to create a BAN on plastic straws on campus. This Change was not proposed to students Via email like other notifications from the university but it was in effect same day. As a fellow chowan student we hold values to what word we have on campus being that we PAY tuition. Many students have raised the concern that straws are the most sanitary in the cafe being that the cups and utensils are not clean all the way. With signing this petition you agree and demand the university to change back to straws and for futher chances notify us prior to the effective date.

Seeing this kind of movement confirms that so many of us feel ignored by the administration. I am exhausted by the silence from those in charge but your responses keep me going.

BRING THEM BACK NOW. Nobody wants to put their mouth on those cups.
the cafe is nasty enough already so stop taking away the few things that make it tolerable.
We pay way too much tuition to be dealing with this. Just give us the straws back it aint that hard.
I’m signing this petition even though i’am no longer a student at Chowan, I feel the students frustration because if I was there I wouldn’t want to be drinking out of the cafe cups I would want to use a straw. I’m pretty sure when you go to any restaurant you don’t drink out of the cup you use a straw, please give the students there straws back .
We Understand the health reasoning, but the cups aren’t sanitary enough to drink straight from it. We can try recycling instead of this method.

The cups in the cafe are always dirty anyway. How are we supposed to use those without a straw. This is just ridiculous.
