Bring Back Arabic to Loyola Marymount University
Arabic is widely spoken. It is the official language of twenty-two countries and is spoken by over 200 million people. A recent publication from September 2014 listed Arabic as the most spoken language after Mandarin, Spanish, English, and Hindi. Except for Hindi, these languages are all offered at LMU and are spoken in various countries. Even though many dialects, the formal version is read and written throughout the world. It can open the doors to a different culture, poetry, and literature as well as new thoughts and perspectives.
The Jordan Alternative Breaks Group had initiated a campaign to reinstate the teaching of Arabic into our institutes curriculum. We would like to ask you to sign the following petition if you believe that you or future students will benefit from such a course being taught at Loyola Marymout University.
Thank You.
