I am all for this petition and would love to see this product resurrect because of what it offers in terms of game play.
With that said I would like to say "in my opinion" that the reason why this game flopped so quickly was 100% the marketing. Who ever thought it was a genius idea to charge your " already small " following some odd dollars for every little aspect of the game is just plain stupid. They caused themselves to go under, there was no room for grow because of their thirst for funds.
I can see how much passion and love was put into the game itself, from the models to the texture work, the animations being fluid and clean to The GUI with It's fine detail that made it stand out incredibly. I can't say much about the coding because I haven't coded much myself, but I can say that the programmers knew what they were doing and they did it well.
I feel sorry for those working on products like these and actually giving a damn about it and in the end seeing all of their love and care being flushed down the toilet because of individuals in charge who only see "green".
If this game were to ever come back, Microsoft needs to pass this franchise to another company. If it doesn't then I am afraid that this game, along with this petition will never flourish and will remain in the darkness forever.
