I still own, and used to race, a 1996 KX500 in the Open B-class. I also currently race a 1990 KDX200 in WEXCER series races. Love em both and they still run strong and are race ready and tight.

With the new technological and mechanical advancements that have been implemented into bikes particularly in the last 7 years (in my opinion) the old issue of 2stroke Co2 emissions can surely be debated and as it has been mentioned these bikes are much more powerful, cheaper to buy and maintain, and ultimately cheaper to make in mass production, also allowing the average rider to have a much better chance of being able to complete an entire rebuild (when needed) without needing to pay hugely inflated labour costs for mechanics to do the work. As for the "issue" arising from excessive noise, when ridden in the appropriate places, that should not cause a problem for riding enthusiats or general populace alike... i and many riders that i know, enjoy the sound, the smell, and most of all the feel of a 2 stroke engine whether it is on raceday, maintainence in the garage or yard, or being out at the local trails. in short, bring these bikes back into action and back into showrooms, and the income will speak for itself... people love these bikes! And the companies will love the profits!

I absolutely love two strokes I belive all bikes should be brought back such as the odd size yamahas along with the cr and kx500 that's a large order I know but if the major brands were to bring back the 125s and 250s honda especially. Long live twostrokes!
