- I am a senior at Minnechaug High School who wishes to remain anonymous because my narrative is not one narrative but rather the narrative of every student of color who has a past with Minnechaug.The feeling of alienation has occured to every single one of us, whether it be a minor or major feeling it has happened. This petition is to get a multi cultural study course back to Minnechaug. The new history curriculum is amazing in it's inclusivism, however on a schedule that is only a half year long, topics will be skimmed over. This course would be for those who felt that they did not get to connect to their history, or for those who want to learn more about Multi-cultural history. The course would cover, Black American ,Native-Ammerican, Latin American,Asian American, women, and LGBTQIA+ history more in depth and their contemporary issues. Sign this petition to better our community, sign this petition,and make your peers of color feel like their history is valued, and that their history is more than a genocide. Amplify their voices.

Totally support this effort. Hope you're successful in adding Multi-Cultural classes to Minnechaug's curriculum.
My kids deserve to learn about the real history of this country. Its about time they brought this class back.
It is crucial at this time in one’s learning to be exposed to a variety of cultures in order to promote connection, acceptance and awareness. Back in high school, I didn’t get the chance to learn as deep as I should have about other cultures and also present day racial issues that this country faces. Leaving the bubble of Wilbraham was a huge wake up call. I also think a non-white teacher to teach this course would be necessary and very important for Minnechaug.
Class of 2014 alumnus- Parent of a future 2035 graduate- Proud to be a part of change.
As someone whos been wronged and violated by the district, by MRHS, by Stephen Hale, this would mean something to me knowing the school system here is capable of change.
Change starts with learning and this class would benefit everyone
African-American history is American history!
