On Monday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m. Lexington Town Meeting members will be voting on Article 13-A concerning appropriations for Bridge/Bowman Renovations.   We would need to show our support to approve Article 13-A.  Please sign below if you plan to attend the Town Meeting to show your support.

More info:  The proposed "renovations" are actually necessary upgrades to the two facilities and are NOT extravagant.  Each building has accumulated nearly ten years worth of "deferred maintenance" (while awaiting decisions on building new schools).  Yes, we would love to build brand new schools.  But, given that Estabrook is next in line for being rebuilt by 2014, and that State building funding has dropped, we do not believe that a new elementary school could be built for another 6-10 years.  Until then, we need to improve the lighting, air quality, and safety for our 1080 elementary school students.   It is unacceptable and unfair that our students crowded into small classrooms with poor air quality and little ventilation, and forced to use decrepit bathrooms.

Although these upgrades do not solve all of the deficiencies of the school facility or the exploding enrollment issue, they will address important health, safety, and equity concerns.
