RE: Brian Cosma Dismissal – A Total Injustice that must be Reversed!!

We are sending this letter/petition to express our absolute dismay and total shock that the Sweetwater Country Club (SWCC) would terminate the services of our beloved Brian. His leadership has been nothing short of outstanding for many, many years. We are completely surprised and outraged at this action. We are at a loss to come up with a justifiable reason for his abrupt termination of employment. The way this was handled will forever leave a sour taste in our mouths.

Perhaps one can not appreciate or understand that Brain has been the heart and soul, literally the glue that has kept the tennis program(s) at SWCC together and active for over 25 years. With the very wide and diverse opinions of the many, many tennis players at SWCC, Brian has always been the understanding, calming voice of opinion and reason that has kept things running smoothly for years and years. Brian’s ability to listen, handle issues and/or disputes, almost always with a smile on his face, is something he dealt with on a consistent basis; something that most of us could not handle with such finesse. Brian has been a constant and reliable presence at SWCC.

We hereby request that the club immediately rehire Brian Cosma to the Tennis Director position. Obviously, there are serious issues in all areas of the club which have required attention for many years; firing the Tennis Director, apparently without warning, nor an opportunity to address the issues (which is really the General Manager or Assistant General Manager's responsibility) is not the proper approach to resolve club maintenance issues. Brian is beloved by many, and SWCC Tennis would not be the same without him. It would be extremely challenging to find anyone to fill Brian's shoes.

Bottom line and in conclusion, it is apparent that the decision to fire Brian was a rash one and did not consider the huge impact it would have on the tennis program and the many people that love, support and depend on him. Brian has been, for most of us our “go to guy". While the upkeep of the club (in all areas) has been deplorable it is very difficult to believe that Brian has had the funds, support or ability to make all of the necessary changes around the club. It is, in fact, due to Brian’s leadership and enthusiasm that so many of us have been willing to stay.
