Brian Coleman coached me at Nordonia HS. I am not familiar with the situation at CFHS, but I am certain that any school would be lucky to have a coach like Brian.

Brian's dedication to Ohio High School Athletics is unsurpassed. He has coached Olympic athletes, and many Collegiate Athletes across multiple sports. Brian deserves the opportunity to come home and make Cuyahoga Falls Football a winning program again. I cannot think of a more qualified person for the job.

I have absolutely no doubt that Coach Flaherty is a perfectly good guy and works hard. That is certainly not the issue. Our collective contention focuses on the cold, hard fact that over the past two seasons the Black Tigers record is 1-19 (5-26 since 2014). Frankly, to not voice our concern would be to capitulate to losing and thus depriving those young men in black and gold the joy of being part of a winning program. Is it arrogant to want to take action on something that hasn't been working? Or would it be apathetic to merely accept the status quo and shrug it off? In this case, arrogance is preferable to the abject misery of attending another game where Stow or Hudson are up 35-0 mid-way through the second quarter. Maybe...probably....this effort of ours goes nowhere and Brian Coleman--a supremely viable candidate-- is once again (yes, once again as the current AD couldn't be bothered to reply to Brian's multiple queries during the last coaching search) ignored by the current administration. However, at the very least our voices (200+ and counting) will be heard.
In our professional lives, we are all judged by the results of our efforts and I am sorry to say that a two year record of 1-19 just doesn't cut it... and I don't believe its necessary to watch game tape or attend practice to come to this conclusion.

I have been coaching at CFHS for the last 18 years, and I see what goes on here on a daily basis. We have the right guy as our football coach. Sean Flaherty is not from Cuyahoga Falls, but I will tell you one thing; to me he is a Black Tiger. He works as hard or harder than any coach I have been around, and most importantly he cares about these kids and this community. You people don't see all the work he does with his team outside of football, helping out around the community and volunteering his services. I have the utmost respect for Coach Flaherty and his staff.
I like Brian Coleman, and think he would make a great head coach somewhere, but we have a coach at Cuyahoga Falls and it is Sean Flaherty!

This petition is extremely sad and reflects very poorly on many so called Black Tiger supporters. It is unbelievable that so many people are willing to pass judgement on the coaching without ever attending one practice, without watching one minute of game film, and in many cases probably not even attending games regularly. This head coach and his staff puts in just as much time if not more than any other high school football staff. If you haven't noticed, football has been down in Cuyahoga Falls for a lot longer than 3 or 5 years. There are many many factors that have lead to a lack of success on Friday nights over the last 15 years but one thing is for sure, Coach Flaherty is part of the solution, not the problem. It's extremely unfortunate and unfair for a group to organize and try to not only remove someone from their current position but also have the arrogance to feel like they deserve to hand pick the guy to replace him. Open your eyes, Coach Flahery is an extremely well respected coach with a great resume and history of success himself.

Change has to start somewhere, and if a petition is the beginning of a positive change, it should be embraced. The Black Tigers used to be a force which, unfortunately, is lacking. I know those boys are playing with heart. Let's make some changes with the coaching staff. Furthermore, your argument would be increasingly valid with a name behind the comment.

This is not a defense of the current coaching staff or Athletic Dept as a whole, clearly there have plenty of failures and minimal success over the past decade. That being said I'm having a hard time calling out 15-18 year old kids for being "out hit and out hustled". This isn't a "heart" problem amongst kids. Trust me, they're working hard and putting all they have into this. But unfortunately, this is a talent and program development problem as a whole. Which is prevalent unfortunately throughout the district both administratively and athletically. But I'm not sure making an online petition will accomplish the goal of getting any one specific person hired (regardless of if he is or isn't the most qualified person for the position). I think it's a bit impractical to call out the AD to fire a coach and get someone else hired... any AD would look foolish to succumb to something like this. Also, publicly calling for high school coaches to be fired via an online petition is just one more embarrassing thing occurring in this whole process to hopefully improvement. Overall point is, this petition is clearly not the most effective way to creating positive change by publicly calling out a high school AD and more than likely undermining the prospect of Brian getting the job (assuming he even want it)... there has to be a better way to go about this.
