Finally, a worthwhile person to name a school for that people in this generation remember. Parents of students at this school can tell her story and the kids can have a sense of pride about the person they represent.

Please consider and implement plans to name the new high school after Brenda Cowan, terminated in the line of duty of the Lexington Division of Fire and Emergency Services.

Brenda is a Union County, KY native. She gave her life for what she believed in. I encourage the powers that be consider naming this School in her honor. She is truly a hero not only for Fayette County but Union County as well. Thanks for your consideration. bjf

I remember that day. Even though I did not know her personally, I know others that did know her at the fire department. It would be a great honor for our community to honor her in this way.

Brenda was a classmate of mine all the way through high school. I don't remember her ever not having a smile on her face and spreading good cheer to everyone she met. Her memory is very deserving of this honor.

Brenda was beyond generous in her love of the community. From her leadership of being the first African-American female on the fire department; to her work off duty in her direct community. I see nothing more fitting than using her love of others to be honored than to name a school for her. What incredible lessons her school members could learn from her actions. Loving others beyond yourself for a better community. Brenda would be happy.
