Brenda Martin has been granted her release and is currently in the process of returning to Canada. Our formal pressure on the Prime Minister reached the necessary threshold to trigger a resolution to her case. We will monitor the final stages of her transition until she is safely home.
Brenda Martin is an innocent Canadian who has now spent more than two years in a Mexican prison in spite of a signed affidavit attesting to her innocence, public statements made by those involved that she is innocent and no credible evidence.
As ordinary Canadians we demand that the Prime Minister\'s office ensure her immediate return to Canada in light of the indifference and apathy that has been shown Martin by Foreign Affairs for the past two years.
Contrary to what should have happened in this case, it is clear that Brenda\'s rights were NOT protected by this government and as ordinary Canadians we insist this government take immediate action on behalf of Martin. She has suffered enough. Bring her home immediately.

The petition just crossed the 1,000 signature threshold. I am currently drafting a formal letter to the Prime Minister's office to accompany this list as we move toward a direct meeting request.

This is honestly just heartbreaking to read. How can a government just sit back and let this happen to one of their own for two years?? Bring her home.

Two years is way to long for someone to be stuck like this without real proof. The system failed her completely.

Sending prayers for Brenda. She should be back in Canada with her family where she belongs. Shame on the folks in charge for ignoring this for so long.
