*Update* This proposal has been denied. We thank those that took the time to join forces in protecting our long-standing public park.

This page is to gather support for those against paving into Breezewald Park, to create an additional parking lot.

Do we not care about green space and the value of public parks in this town? Do we really need to add more asphalt and parking to an already crowded area? Public parks and beaches should be protected from this.

Lake Zurich hasn't done much with all the buildings/land they own downtown and along Main Street. For many (many) years. Please leave the park alone.

Yes, we all know this parking is for the Pavilion that continues to grow in the park. Built by LZ, run by Scoreboard. For those that don’t know this is a little drink hut/deck with a nice view. Granted it’s turning into a business & bar in a public park. They started using all the park picnic tables, then all the parking, and as of a month ago (with existing issues) they doubled in size with an extra patio? So now.. we have a proposal to use $150,000 citizen paid tax dollars to carve into Breezewald park, to give a private business more parking and profit. (likely for both locations)
This all isn’t right. What is going on here..

Also. Cars reversing backward onto a main road would be accidents waiting to happen (especially when dark or after drinking). Safety in general. This is still a park & beach and there is a playground less than 100 feet away. Perpendicular and angled street parking accounts for a whopping 30% increased risk of children being hit by vehicles. Hidden from view, if a child were to run between a parked car they’d immediately be on Old Rand, giving a moving vehicle seconds to react. For those of you that have kids, we all know how quickly they can dash away even when right next to you.

The village uses clever wording, then ends with that they’re gathering bids and construction is expected later this year. This has not even gone to vote yet..

Protect our parks. Preserve green space. This isn’t right. This isn’t safe. This is not where to spend $150,000 tax dollars.

I don't expect much from this and respect everyone's opinion. Please share. Thanks for reading.
