Per the current bylaws of Live Oak Lofts:

Prohibited Animals. No Resident may keep a dangerous or exotic animal, pit bull terrier, trained attack dog, or any other animal deemed by the board of directors to be a potential threat to the well-being of people or other animals. No animal or house pet may be kept, bred, or maintained for a commercial purpose.

In our building we have a number of dogs that, based on their breed alone, are considered "dangerous breeds". These include but are not limited to Doberman Pinchers, German Shepherds, Boxers, Huskies and Pit Bulls and subsequent mixes. It is unfair to assume that based on a breed alone an animal is to be deemed "dangerous". Companion animals should be judged on their behavior, not their appearance. Instead of targeting breeds we should instead target irresponsible owners and dogs, of any breed, who have a proven history of aggression. This is referred to as "Dangerous DogLegislation".
