Final supporters
The Wilkes Barre Area School Board is planning to consolidate Coughlin and Myers High Schools. They refuse to listen to the few people that show up at the monthly meetings. This move is not in the best interests of the students of Coughlin or Myers. Lets show them what the public wants. Sign the petition if you feel the Plains Twp, Laflin Boro, Bear Creek Twp and Buck Twp should break away from the District and form our own School District. We provide approximately 80% of the School Districts budget. Lets let our 80% be heard.

The school board continues to ignore our concerns while planning this consolidation. We are currently researching the legal steps required to form our own independent district.

I was a Coughlin graduate, however I would not want my child being merged with Myers when he gets older! Break away!!!!!
These schools already fail at educating the students they have. How can you expect to do any better doubling the student body???
I pay school taxes for what! A school that does not put education and the students first! We need to break away from Wilkes- Barre Area and put people in that want students to be all they can be with a good education and to succeed in their future!!
Look what happened to Hazleton after all the consolidations. Look what happened to Allentown. Consolidation is not the answer when population is expanding. The answer would be to control the population so that the two schools that are already overrun don't become more overrun, thereby decreasing our students' educatipn quality, and further overworking educators.
With 60%+ of the district revenue coming from Plains, a number projected to increase, I support the formation of an aleternative school district.
What about Miners Mills and Parsons??? Bear Creek can build their own school. It really sounds like you want to pick and choose who goes and who can go away. I live less than a mile away from the current Solomon Complex.
Separate plains school from Wilkes Barre area schools!!!

First I believe there should have been a consolidation of all 3 city schools a long time ago for efficiency......but being from Plains I would prefer separating from WB School District. I believe Plains and Laflin can afford their own schools.
