I hate the new logo! I can't believe what my tax dollars are going into!

I have not spent 15 years of my life living in this city to have it be represented by shoddy clipart.

I would say this logo or "brand" does NOT capture the Grand River Experience, inventor Alexander Graham Bell, or Wayne Gretzky, or any other points of interest that represent Brantford. This symbol would be nothing less than an embarrassment to our city! And about "expecting resistance", if something is really great, you should be expecting excitement! Go back to the drawing board. The old logo had an excellent basic elegant image; just update it!

VERY VERY disappointed in the decision to adopt this new logo. Another waste of taxpayers money after the Gretzky Centre fiasco. When will the City ever learn?

Here's my two cents as a Design graduate (though I don't consider myself a Designer).
Looking past the somewhat confusing icon, the craftsmanship alone needs some work. The bezier curves are fairly rough making me assume a first year student or Intern handled production. The kerning (spacing between letters) is off and the exclamation mark poorly connects with the B - almost like they just rotated it and laid it over top.
Also, who uses tag lines in logos anymore? This is either a design by committee misfortune or poor craftsmanship by the Agency that I generally have respect for.
If they're ok with hiring out-of-town Designers, just spend 30 minutes on dribbble.com or behance.net for exceptional Designers and Typographers that would put their heart and soul into it, probably for a fraction of the cost.

I totally agree the steering committee made choices that ruined the logo to start but JAN Kelley in the end put out this product, none the less this needs to be fixed

Thing is, JAN Kelley does look like a decent firm who does decent work. So, did the councillors ruin the look of this thing? As an marketing agency guy myself, we do often have to let the client kill their own work if they so desire.

The fact that the logo is so scaringly similar to online clip art is reason enough to find out way back to square one in this process.

I expect more from a City logo and would like to stop this logo from continuing
