As we have gone on this journey for the last four years, working day in and day out on our school work, on sports teams, in clubs, doing community service, and overall distinguishing ourselves, we have been groomed to learn one thing. We have been taught the lesson of the importance of individuality. We have been pushed every day to join a new club or take a rigorous class or play an extra sport. We have spent hours upon hours working to show that we are not the same as the rest of our classmates. You, the administration and teachers, are the ones that have led us to learn how to become our own; and now you are trying to strip us of our individuality by restricting us from decorating graduation caps. This privilege of decorating our caps is a tradition that has continued for years now, and it is one that we deserve to continue. It does not make sense nor is it fair that suddenly you decide not to permit the decoration of our caps. This is especially uncalled for because over the years we have only become more college/university bound as a student body. Please review the message that you are sending to your students by telling us that we can not be proud about what we have achieved and where we get to spend our years after high school; because in taking away our right to put that school's name on our graduation caps in celebration of what we have accomplished, you are telling us that we must all look the same. Think about what this says to not only the class of 2016, but also to the other classes of Branham High School to come. You're not only making hundreds of students outraged, but you're also being quite hypocritical by indirectly telling us that our individuality doesn't matter enough to you to let us celebrate it on one of the biggest days of our lives.

I went to Branham last year and making my grad cap was a really great memory so I think this class should be able to design there's!

I don't see any harm in allowing students to decorate their caps when 1) they paid for the caps 2) as long as the decorations are appropriate, it won't hurt or offend anyone and 3) it is the last day of their high school career and this would be a great way to allow students to truly leave their mark and show what they're capable of, even through simply decorating their caps.

There's nothing wrong with cap decorations. It's a symbol of a student's individuality and creativity in response to a once-in-a-lifetime moment that marks their success. Schools she be ashamed for attempting to stifle such a thing. If someone tries to inappropriately destroy this with an outrageous cap, remove them. If administration is able to let a few bad apples spoil the rest, then they're just doing a plain poor job regulating their own school.

High school graduation is a key milestone in every student's life, and it is the grad gear that marks tangible evidence of such a milestone, before students head wherever they may choose to in the future. By disallowing students from decorating their caps, the Branham administration is restricting students to establishing but a mark of conformity and sameness, both of which are greatly dissuaded during students' high school experiences. Each student is unique in his/her experiences and aspirations. This variety should be embraced, especially during an important ceremony such as graduation.

Decorating caps is only beneficial, it can't do any harm because this is a one time only thing, and not letting the students design is stupid. They paid for the cap and gown anyways.

Time and time again we've been told by the staff and administration to work hard for our future and now that we are ready to move on and take pride in what we have achieved and what we will do in the future, we are told that it's not allowed. It's not "traditional". I have worked incredibly hard over these past four years and I want to have the opportunity to take pride in my future school UCSD.

Don't we live in America! THEY SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO DECORATE THERE CAPS....I DON'T SEE THE BIG ISSUE WITH IT! After all they did pay for them and these kids worked hard to graduate. I think at the very least they should be able to express themselves. So petty of the school!
