To: Atlanta Public Schools, Atlanta Board of Education Re: Proposal to Address Overcrowding in the North Side Cluster of Elementary Schools MAINTAIN CURRENT SCHOOL DISTRICTING OF MORRIS BRANDON ELEMENTARY The proposed school redistricting is not an acceptable remedy for the increased growth in the north side areas of Atlanta. The current proposal to redistrict schools would negatively impact traffic congestion, commute times and the environment, damage property values and disrupt our neighborhoods. Morris Brandon is a flagship school, not just in Atlanta but in the entire State of Georgia, and it has become so successful because of the years of partnership and faithful commitment of families within the entire Brandon district. Brandon is truly a \"neighborhood school\", a unique find in such a large city. Residents and parents in the Brandon district have supported their neighborhood school by sharing their time and financial resources. As a result, their joint successes include Georgia School of Excellence (last 5 years), International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program, Georgia Department of Education Platinum Award and No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School. We want to keep our neighborhoods intact, keep our school district intact, keep traffic to a minimum and maintain property values. I vigorously oppose the removal of current districted neighborhoods out of the Morris Brandon school district. Therefore, I urgently petition the Board to vote \"NO\" to the proposed redistricting.
