THE CITY COUNCIL OFFICIALLY VOTED TO NAME THE PARK AFTER BRANDON KOCH!! I AM ABSOLUTELY THRILLED THAT OUR COMMUNITY CAME TOGETHER TO HONOR HIS LEGACY IN SUCH A POWERFUL WAY!!
We the citizens of Turlock are petitioning on behalf of Brandon Koch, a 26 year old Turlock resident, who is currently passing away from a rare, aggressive form of adrenocortical cancer, a cancer so rare that the University of Michigan has chosen to devote resources into researching it. Currently there is no cure or treatment.
Brandon is a loved and well respected member of this community, as testified by the outpouring of support letters from those who know him. There are no acquaintances with Brandon. When one meets Brandon, there is an instant, easily developed friendship. We should all hope that his kindhearted demeanor and kindred spirit be a contagious pandemic. Brandon has had an irresistible love and devotion for skateboarding all of his life. He was excited to see a skate park finally coming to Turlock and from the beginning of Turlock Skate Park’s existence, he has spent every spare moment there, honing his skills, earning sponsorships, and being a friend and mentor to those in need.
We find it fitting that Turlock Skate Park be named after someone who is a pillar in the community, with such a deep love for the sport and who is loved by all; which we also hope will help bring awareness to the indiscriminate nature of cancer, as Brandon made no poor lifestyle choices to illicit this disease.
Heartbreaking situation. He is such a great guy and deserves this honor so much.

Brandon is a legend at the park. Always teaching the little kids how to drop in. Name the park after him for sure.

Cancer is a total nightmare. Turlock needs to show some respect to a local hero.
