I _________________, believe that Brandeis should be above average.

This institution should strive to fulfill its mission of social justice and diversity. Its members should reflect the spirit of Justice Louis Brandeis who, in the words of Justice Douglas, was "a militant crusader of social justice whoever his opponent might be...because of his brilliance, his arithmetic, his courage. He was dangerous because he was incorruptible".

Students, staff, faculty, administration, and alumni should work together to promote this mission on every level of functionality from day to day activities to long-term decisions. It should be a part of every discussion as it is already mentioned in every class, promotion, and announcement.

Students, along with alumni, administration, staff, faculty, and other community members, should have an active voice and vote in the decisions made regarding every aspect of the university.

Decisions should be made reflecting our commitment to being socially just and fostering equality and acceptance throughout our community. Our University’s diversity statement clearly states that “Brandeis University endeavors to foster a just and inclusive campus culture that embraces the diversity of the larger society,” and I want to see that echoed through every aspect of campus.

I ____________ am not an apathetic by-stander to the workings of this institution and want to be a member of a caring community that works together to support our mission and diversity statements.
