At the end of Buoy Rd in Webster, outside of The Bradford Apartments, there is an old, out-of-service, filled with cobwebs fire hydrant at the end of the street.

Due to The Bradford's popularity, parking is limited, so many residents are forced to park along Buoy Rd.

There are, in total, three fire hydrants along Buoy Rd, two of which (still in working condition) have No Parking signs on either side of them, enforcing the Texas Transportation Code - Section 545.302"An operator may not... park an occupied or unoccupied vehicle... within 15 feet of a fire hydrant"

The third fire hydrant, at the end of Buoy, does not have any No Parking signs and due to this, the lack of available parking, and the obvious nature of it's disrepair (if a fire truck came out, what would they pump out, spiderwebs and old leaves?) many people park next to the sign and many people have been towed and ticketed by the City of Houston for parking.

This petition is to tell the City of Houston that as citizens, we demand that either signage is put up to enforce the no-parking law or that the City remove the fire hydrant so that the space can be utilized for parking.

It is not obvious that the no-parking rule would still apply to a fire hydrant that would be in no way useful to the fire department in an emergency. Yes, you could advice erring on the side of caution, but it seems to be in a gray area, especially when you come home (late at night from work or school) and there are no available parking spots near your apartment within the gates and there is only one spot left on the street.

Don't let this area be an area that the Houston Police know they can get easy money or the towing company an easy paycheck. Help future residents by signing this petition to request the City of Houston make an easy change and make things clear.
