The Durham residents, home owners, and potential developers near the Amazon Inc. owned property at 1805 TW Alexander Dr, Durham, NC 27703 are negatively impacted by the consistent noises coming from their 24/7 operations.

This property that is used by Amazon Inc. creates an annoyance for anyone who lives near it. In some cases, residences who are directly adjacent to the property owned by Amazon Inc. may have less than 100 feet between them and where large shipping containers are dropped. The vibration from these shipping containers being dropped is sometimes enough to shake the homes of people who live hundreds of yards away and always severely impacts those who live adjacent to Amazon's activity.

The property at 1805 TW Alexander Dr, Durham, NC 27703 is zoned light industrial by the city. Light industrial, according to the Durham Unified Development Ordinance, Amazon Inc.'s usage is not the correct usage for a property zoned this way. In the below passage, IL stands for Industrial Light.

"The IL District is established to provide for a wide range of light manufacturing, warehousing, and wholesaling activities as well as offices and some support services, all subject to minimum design standards intended to ensure such development is compatible with high visibility areas. Standards of this district are designed to minimize impacts on the environment and to assure compatibility with the surrounding area. It is the intent of this district to offer sites for those industries whose operations, exposure, location or traffic have minimal impact on adjacent properties."

It is our belief that Amazon Inc. is not following this ordinance and is having a major impact to our properties.

Further, it is our belief that this has a business impact to potential development of properties that are proposed. Any property adjacent to or near the Amazon property will have reduced value. Businesses impacted include home owners who are renting out their properties and may see reduced rents along with home owners wishing to sell who may see diminished property values.

This has had actual, monetary impacts on home owners already.

This petition is to request that Amazon Inc. takes immediate steps to reduce the noise leaving their property to be in line with reasonable standards that are set by city ordinance within Durham.
