Congestion much worse than ever before. Traffic backs up to beyond the circle. Total disregard by certain road users, of road markings, traffic lights and speed restrictions. The situation is an accident waiting to happen- right outside a school!
The traffic lights were installed against better advise by highly respected city planners. These lights are a complete menace, they are dangerous and also choke up the entire one half of Hout Bay on a daily basis.
I use this intersection twice a day, minimum. My husband uses it multiple times a day. At this stage, it is easier to count the number of times we don't see someone driving through the red light or over taking using the turn only lane. It is a serious accident waiting to happen.
Taxis AS WELL AS PRIVATE CARS run through the orange and early RED lights almost as A RULE. I wait within the intersection to turn into payne road and the light turns yellow and red and cars make us wait while they drive through the red light. Cameras are the answer here! Simple!
Some kind of controls need to be implemented to prevent motorists skipping red lights and jumping traffic queues. Or people will die like in Durban recently. May I suggest a circle could work better? With controlled lanes for left/right turns.
Was at the robot this am and saw a guy drive straight through with out even slowing down.
I have nearly been wiped out twice already!!! Only a circle will end this madness. Pose don't wait till someone is killed.

Have seen taxi buses and taxi sedans drive into right turn lane and when lights turn green they pull off fast and swing left directly in front of you to go straight. On one or two occasions they did above but didnot even wait for lights to turn green
