Bottega is a plush boutique situated in Tarporley Cheshire.
On November 11th, Bottega achieved a first by becoming the only business in Britain seeking to make money from Remembrance Day.
Customers were enticed to the store by a "one day only" 11% discount (11th geddit!) and the offere of a free Cinammon and Raisin bagel ( provided you were in the shop by 11 o clock.) "There is no bad luck about that" their advertising copy boasted.
The offer was posted on their Facebook Page and they had thoughtfully drawn up an 11/11/11 logo to support their campaign to exploit the memory of the fallen.
Following protests the page was swiftly taken down.
Bottega is owned by Cheshire multi millionaire Geoff Moss and his partner Sam Brightmore.
We,the undersigned, believe that they should apologise for their ill judged and insensitive behaviour and make some gesture of recompense for the distress they have caused.
A donation to a services charity would be appropriate.
Men and women did not give their lives in order to sell overpriced frocks and skinny lattes.
