SodaStream violates Human Rights! SodaStream, a home carbonation device that is made in violation of International Law in an illegal Israeli settlement on land stolen from Palestinians. The Geneva Conventions specifically prohibit an occupying power (in this case, Israel) from profiting from land it occupies (in this case, Palestine’s West Bank). The International Court of Justice has also ruled that Israel’s settlements in the occupied Palestine’s West Bank are illegal. NOT ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY Customers are misled to think that SodaStream is an environmentally-friendly product, but they don’t know the truth about the destruction of life, land, and human rights by Israel and its illegal settlements. Please support international law and human rights, don’t buy and don’t sell SodaStream or any other products made in illegal Israeli settlements LEARN MORE http://www.StopSodaStream.org http://holidaysodastreamboycott.wordpress.com http://www.globalexchange.org/sodastream http://www.ifamericansknew.org http://bdsmovement.net http://www.endtheoccupation.org Stores that carry SodaStream will be notified about this petition. Alber, CEO Williams-Sonoma Please don’t sell SodaStream, a home carbonation device that is made in violation of International Law in an illegal Israeli settlement on land stolen from Palestinians. The Geneva Conventions specifically prohibit an occupying power (in this case, Israel) from profiting from land it occupies (in this case, Palestine’s West Bank). The International Court of Justice has also ruled that Israel’s... settlements in the occupied Palestine’s West Bank are illegal. In 2012, the Methodist and Presbyterian churches voted to boycott products made in illegal Israeli settlements – including SodaStream. Stores in Europe, the United States, and elsewhere have pulled SodaStream from their shelves. Selling a product made in violation of International Law contradicts corporate responsibility and ethics policies that many stores have. SodaStream is made in the Mishor Edomim industrial zone that is part of the illegal Israeli settlement Ma’aleh Adumim, which cuts deeply into Palestine’s West Bank, severing Palestinian towns and devastating their economy and daily lives. The Israeli government encourages companies to locate inside illegal settlements by allowing lower environmental and labor standards than those required inside Israel. In addition to the illegal settlements, the Israeli government continuously violates United Nations resolutions and international humanitarian law regarding the rights of the native peoples of historic Palestine. Palestinian Christians and Muslims living inside Israel are second class citizens without the same rights or benefits as Jewish Israelis. Israel maintains an air, sea, and land blockade of Palestine’s Gaza strip so severe the United Nations has said Gaza may be unlivable by 2020. Palestinian refugees have not been allowed to return to their homes and lands as required by U.N. Resolution 194. Customers are misled to think that SodaStream is an environmentally-friendly product, but they don’t know the truth about the destruction of life, land, and human rights by Israel and its illegal settlements. Please support international law and human rights, don’t buy and don’t sell SodaStream or any other products made in illegal Israeli settlements. Sincerely, [Your name]
