Getty's actions are targeted towards punishing small business owners. For unintentional and minor offenses their letters are incredibly intimidating, their fines are outrageous and their staff is unbelievably rude. They should be stopped from this behavior.

It would be great to crowdfund the legal fees required to go after these guys and their extortion-based business model.

We are currently fighting a settlement "bill" for over $800. We are not going to pay it.

A friend of mine contacted the phototagrapher on LinkedIn and confirmed it was not her work. She was very nice and told me about Tineye.com where you can upload the image in question to see if is even on Getty's website.

Meta data, no copyright iconography, in short, they extort with minimal evidence of wrong doing

I completely support your efforts to boycott Getty Images and hope that the federal authorities take up the case on behalf of unsuspecting small businesses like mine. I support and encourage an investigation into their deceitful business practices as I believe much will be uncovered.

We are based in Netherlands, Europe and recently received such a letter of GI for use of three very small images in 2006 (!) when we just strated our blog (sicne 2007 until 2014 we only use images licensed for use on our blog from Fotolia. iStock (GI owned) for our IPEG blog, www.ipeg.com. Being former IP attorney myself I will take this case up to court in Netherlands, if need be, as the allegations are out of proportions, ill advised, abusive and outreageous.

I am outraged by the letter I got. I did not intend to infringe upon copyright violation, and instead of giving me a chance to correct the problem by buying the image for the cost of it, I'm told I have to pay $780. If there was a way I could tell if I'm violating copyright, I'd love to know! There needs to be more laws in place to protect business owners and bloggers so that we don't unintentionally violate copyright, and if we do that we are given a warning, and and maybe even reasonable penalty for doing so. $780 is insane!

Getty Image send to a client a letter 2 years ago, I respond it and they desist, now they are back increasing the amount and treat us like criminals bullying my client with a sue, no cease letter, not warning, no payment plans, no consideration at all!! is not law against this? plus, another client paid and they are trying to charge again, a YEAR LATER!
