On October 7, Ryan Burton of BoxingScene.com reported to the boxing public that Vadim Kornilov, manager of Ruslan Provodnikov, confirmed Jose Luis Castillo is atop a short list of opponents to square up against the "Siberian Rocky" in his next outing.

Boxing fans deserve better and Provodnikov should demand better. In an ESPN interview Dan Rafael back in June of 2014, Provodnikov said, "I am focusing on a shorter, more prominent career; I only want the big fights, the fights the fans want to see." Ruslan Provodnikov vs Jose Luis Castillo is not a fight fans want to see.

There are many better opponents to select from with recent quality wins such as Philly native, Hank Lundy. Provodnikov could seek revenge for his first loss and rematch the fighter that many believe should be the current WBC and WBA champion, Maurico Herrera. A few other names to consider could be Cesar Cuenca, Anthony Peterson, Humberto Soto, or John Molina.

Boxing fans need to unite on this matter and send a message of disappointment anddisapproval to Team Provodnikov. If he wants to continue enjoying the support of the fans, he must demand a better opponent.
