Essex County Council are proposing to reduce the speed limit along Straight Road, Boxted. The current speed limit outside the village is 60mph and the proposal is to reduce this to a 40mph speed limit. We believe such a move to be unnecessary for such a major road in a rural area and would rather see the focus on other safety measures such as improving visability at key junctions e.g. Langham Road and Horkesley Road and reducing speed limits on adjacent narrow country lanes.
