The situation is critical, the need growing. Do we want to make Bowen into a retreat for the wealthy? We are in need of services and people who can afford to live here.

Humans are a "species" too and have a right to habitat.

Thanks Robyn, for being proactive on this situation - Bowen is experiencing what the lower mainland is also experiencing. I am concerned for what kind of community we will have in the future. Will it be diverse??

I have never seen fewer rental properties available on Bowen. Air BnB has virtually taken over most viable rental suites and homes. Legislation against this is taking hold in the U.S. and it's time we did the same. Without accommodation, individuals and families are having to leave a community they love. This is simply morally wrong. We need our Municipal government to act now (and NOT years from now).

We encourage council to continue working on affordable housing. However in the short term, to increase the amount of affordable accomodation, council needs to put in place policies to encourage property owners to provide long term rentals for those not able to buy versus only renting their accommodations on a short term or nightly basis.

So glad someone is exposing the real 'numbers' here. Example: At The Ruddy - where most of us shop nearly every day, YOUR cashier, deli-worker & shelf stocker makes MINIMUM wage. (Incremental increases of .25 cents). So yes: if you want to have your nice things, then try to wrap your head around what is affordable for the people (many) that serve you. Thank you.

There is such a lack of affordable housing on Bowen and around the province. Building more co-op housing is a must. Time to house our middle and lower income citizens.

I and others worked diligently on this matter from 2006 to 2011, whereupon we surrendered to the lack of municipal political will to facilitate (or even get out of the way to allow) change

Need to find solutions away from the "big development model" and get the entire community more involved.

None of the current proposals have affordable lower income portions. None.

BIM does not serve the needs of all levels of Bowen Island residents, a path must be found to "speed up" the process.I also think Bowen needs to undergo a core review which is a requirement under the Municipal Act.

We need to be proactive & start moving forward developing some of the Surplus Lands for rental housing, co-op or otherwise.

We need to provide long term rentals to provide security to young families.
