It would be very honorable to name the pavilion after Berna Mae Boone. She is the apitimy of a servant of the Lord.

It is an honor to say I am the granddaughter of this wonderful woman that even today still leaves a impact on the San Antonio community. She should be honored being that her legacy will live on forever. From watching her sacrifice her last to assure others in need had. I remember growing up assisting her with gathering food boxes for the needy in what then was called the Lincoln Courts also homes on the city's West Side. She provided school uniforms and supplies and clothing to the community. She would also provide meals under the bridge for homeless along with Sunday service's with praise and worship. She was dedicated to keeping her community positive and focused on helping others in need as well as opening her own home to the homeless to sleep. Despite her being in a wheelchair she didn't let that stop her. It would be an honor to allow my grandmother's legacy to live on. I remember hearing that what was called West End now Frank Garrett tried to close the center to make it a alternative school, my grandmother gathered a bus full of people to support her beliefs to the visit the representatives for the district during a city council meeting to fight verbally as to reason why Frank Garrett should stay, and she won. This is reason why Verna Mae Winn Thompson should be honored. I love you Grandma always and forever.

The Pavilion should be named after Mama Boone because she worked hard to keep it open. She was such a Legacy to the community.

She was the heart of the community center.

We live in a society where being an active part of your community is fading. We need to shed light and focus on those of previous generations that fought to maintain the luxuries and privileges that we have at our fingertips, and often take for granted. Grandma Boone used her voice so that future generations of her community could have a safe place to belong to. Naming and dedicating the main pavilion for her is a testament to social responsibility, civic engagement, and cultural history. Her story must be highlighted and continually shared as an example that reminds everyone that community strength starts within our own community and that when you use your voice, you can make a difference.

This is for my grandmother. One of the most amazing and strong women I've ever know. I love you grandma, may God keep you.
