I’ve been living at Bookmen since early 2010 (13yrs) and my balcony faces Graze Food Hall.
To my knowledge, the disturbing loud outdoor music noise started occurring when Modist Brewery was approved outdoor live bands almost every other weekend (where our Bookmen guest parking lot therefore had to be inconveniently closed for each of those events) starting the Fall 2021 thru 2022 in the shared w/Modist guest parking lot. It appears to have been a domino effect of outdoor loud music since at surrounding bars including Modist (Fall 2021-Fall 2022), Graze (ongoing problem 2023), and Cuzzy’s (1 recent event Summer 2023). I don’t recall noticeable loud music prior to that Fall of 2021 starting with Modist Brewery so I believe it has been a domino effect where all the other nearby bars followed the outdoor live band trend Modist was doing. If you think about it, Modist is next to residential bldgs and if those live band events were allowed, then everything must of appeared to be on-the-table for outdoor loud music events thereafter.
I’ve called Graze in the past when loud music is just too unbearably loud vibrating off my windows and walls and I started to get headaches where I needed to lay down and sleep, however, unable to sleep due to the continuing loud music. Graze’s Manager did nothing when I called her so I wouldn’t bother calling Graze. I have been calling 911 since and every time when their live music gets too loud. The police also seem to do nothing but at least it’s been reported so it’s on record with the police. I called 911 on Friday, May 5, 2023 and again on Monday, June 12, 2023, both in the late evening time, to report extremely loud music coming from Graze. On Friday, June 16th, Graze had a live DJ that was a silent disco event (no live music blasting) which was wonderful and hoping they continue with “silent disco” instead of loud live music.

The constant noise pollution from Graze is unbearable and unacceptable
I can’t even sit out on my own patio on a beautiful warm day due to loud music, especially, on Sunday afternoons. On Thursday June 13 Graze had live music in the early evening. No reason for it to be so loud. Also, when NOLO’s had their block party it was unbearable.

The noise is a severe problem for residents, coming from businesses that have only opened in recent years. Please enforce the rules.

We also had the police in our private guest parking lot for a vagrant in the constructions porta potty who was trying to make a over night home 7/16/23

We need more than a few people to get this to change. As one of the people who regularly contacts the city I can say the response is tepid at best

• Construction or demolition noise is allowed 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday.
• An after-hours work permit is required for any work on Saturday or Sunday.
• Homeowners do not need an after-hours work permit:
o Weekdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
o Weekends from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
For garbage collection noise
• Garbage pickup noise is allowed 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. within 500 feet of a residence.
• Complaints about commercial garbage haulers should be made to Business Licenses & Consumer Services.
For amplified sound or loud music
• Outdoor amplified sound that can be heard above conversation from beyond 50 feet likely requires a sound permit at any time.
• Sound from motor vehicle sound systems or audio systems clearly audible from beyond 50 feet is illegal. To report loud motor vehicles:
o Call 911
For yard or snow maintenance noise
• Use of power lawnmowers, trimmers, saws, leaf blowers or similar tools is allowed from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
• Use of snowblowers and snowplows is allowed anytime during an official snow emergency or within 24 hours of a snowfall of 1 inch or more.
