We, the undersigned, wish to register our objection to the proposal for housing development at Bonks Hill for the following reasons: • the development would generate an unacceptable increase in traffic at the junction of High Wych Road–Bonks Hill–Harlow Road, which is already congested and dangerous for both vehicles and pedestrians* and • Bonks Hill House is an important listed building and any development of the site would destroy the unique character and environment of the area.** *Hertfordshire County Highways do not consider this junction to be a problem and have not objected to the development on road safety or traffic grounds. **Bonks Hill House was the former residence of the Rivers family, world famous horticulturalists and plant breeders. One Thomas Rivers (1798–1877) was a close associate of Charles Darwin and the two corresponded on numerous matters relating to plant breeding. Darwin is known to have visited the nurseries at Bonks Hill. When you have signed, PLEASE IGNORE THE DONATION SCREEN THAT FOLLOWS, as donation is not necessary.
