Hello my name is Shawn Glaser and I am a 15-year-old student at the Bondurant High school and in this petition I will explain to you why I think we should build a disc golf course in Bondurant. Disc golf is a fun and low cost form of exercise and recreation. Bondurant lacks activities for teens and young adults to do within the city. With a park for the younger kids and a bar for the adults we don’t have a median. A 9-hole disc golf course would be a low cost answer to that problem. An estimate for a 9-hole disc golf course is around $4000 dollars (not including course design), which can be made back in sales tax. If more people come through Bondurant to play disc golf more people will want to buy things in town such as pick up something at The Brick Street Market, grab something to drink after their game of disc golf, or fill up their tank at one of the Casey’s on their way out of town. Discs range from $10-25 based on quality and brand discs are low cost and very durable and disc kiosks could be added to just about any store or gas station, bringing in even more tax revenue for Bondurant. Disc golf courses are low maintenance as well by just putting a few trash and recycling cans here and there around the course the disc golfers will do their part to keep the course a clean and fun environment. I feel like a disc golf course could potentially increase tax revenue and expand our great town in an amazing way.
