Boiling Over: A Campaign to End Ontario's Remaining 26 LTDWAs

For decades, Indigenous communities across Canada have been denied access to clean drinking water and equitable healthcare; fundamental human rights. Today, 26 long-term boil water advisories still remain in Ontario, with some communities, like Neskantaga First Nation, having lived under advisories for over 29 years. The consequences are devastating: waterborne illnesses, chronic disease, mental health struggles, and generational trauma — all worsened by limited access to medical care on reserve.
This crisis is not an accident. It is the result of ongoing settler-colonial policies, systemic neglect, and a failure to prioritize Indigenous health and safety. Enough is enough.
We are calling on local, provincial, and federal representatives to:
- Immediately resolve all remaining boil water advisories in Ontario
- Invest in long-term infrastructure that guarantees access to clean, safe water
- Expand access to primary healthcare providers and culturally safe care in Indigenous communities to mitigate these health problems
- Include Indigenous voices and leadership in all decisions affecting their health and resources
If you believe that clean water and healthcare are not privileges, but rights, sign this petition. Urge others to do the same. Because when basic rights are still a question, silence is not an option.
