If the DEQ no longer oversees the alteration of our navigable waterways, particularly dredging who does? It took forever for us to be permitted to place some native stone along the high water line to reduce erosion. A concrete retaining wall or foundation would have me behind bars for life.

I dont think the DEQ would allow the project

Ecological impact, scenic beauty, and negotiating river traffic are, clearly, reasons to ban boat houses on the river.

This deserves thorough community review.

I am opposed to the construction of boat houses on the Carp River. This will set a terrible precedent along the river.

The damage to this fragile river by allowing individual owners to drege purely based on want not need cannot be overstated. This issue needs to be immediately reviewed by the zoning board

My wife and I are property owners on the Leland River, and are surprised that so many people have to work so hard to bring this issue to the attention of decision-making bodies, in order to protect this narrow waterway.

I support a moratorium on the building of boathouses on the Leland River.

I know that as a community, when we work hard together through challenges we come up with good solutions. We have a significant opportunity right now to ask for dialogue between the community, the Township Board and the Zoning Board in regard to this need for a change to our current zoning ordinance on boathouses. Difficult dialogues are not easy, there are many bumps - but the commitment and passion for the extraordinary natural wonder we enjoy each day here in Leland - gives us the courage to engage in the difficult conversations in order to come up with the best way forward together.
