I am distressed at this development. It seems to be entirely a matter of political correctness, since as I understand it, Dr Zucker is considered by colleagues as ranking at the top in the world for knowledge, experience and credibility in this field. It is shameful that parents struggling to help their children deal with this complicated and sensitive issue should be left to their own devices in order to satisfy gender ideologues who are unwilling to admit that "treatment" is a perfectly legitimate way to deal with early childhood gender confusion.

This issue goes beyond personal or professional feelings about treatment (or not). It involves the issue of academic freedom. CAMH and the U of T diminish their reputations by their actions in this case. All academics and those championing informed debate and best practice treatment for patients should be protesting this attack on science, ethics, informed patient care, and academic freedom.
