I am utterly shocked at the decision to close the Child and Adolescent Gender Identity Clinic at CAMH. I worked at the centre in the 1990s when it was still located at the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry. I assessed hundreds of children who went onto benefit from the treatment and are so very grateful as adults that they had the opportunity for treatment. I am concerned that many children who have concerns about their gender will have nowhere to seek help and no expert, like Professor Ken Zucker, available to help. So many children will experience unwanted suffering as a result of this premature decision.

We needs this at CAMH. My son could really use this kind of help. Trust, encouragedment, support without judgement.

CAMH is deeply damaging its reputation by this shameful treatment of a world-class academic.

Children should have the ability to deconstruct ideas of gender presentation before being pushed into medication and surgery procedures that are often irreversible. I don't understand why push children into rash decisions instead of let them make an informed decision with the help of competent professionals.

I have a family member who is ftm trans. Without unbiased services he may never have made it to his 21st birthday. This idea that kids muclst be pushed down one path is dangerous. Exploring all options so as to find the right one for the individual is absolutely necessary for their wellbeing and development.

the gender industry profits off conversion therapy on gender non-conforming individuals, with increasing focus on marketing its products towards children to make life-long dependent customers of synthetic hormones which numerous studies have shown to increase morbidity, rates of suicide, cancer, and osteoporosis, among other seriously harmful effects. all humans—adults, children, intersex—should be free to like and wear whatever they want without having to fit into box 'girl' or box 'boy'. medical professionals who adhere to the 'do no harm' principle ought not to be punished for refusing to shallow political trends du jour.
