Nelson County Board of Supervisors: Petition FERC and Officials for a PEIS for the ACP

Building four high pressure pipelines in a relatively small area dominated by poor rural communities smacks of a land grab. I am hoping you , our representatives on the Nelson County BOS, will insist that FERC study and explain why all three are needed.

Please do the right thing for our county.. Please consider the environmental impact of this project from the initial fracking process thru the construction phase and ultimately to the selling and shipping the end product to an out of state / out of country destination. The liabilities of the project far outweigh the benefits. The only entity that I see benefiting from this project is Dominion Power.

Please reevaluate the need for such destructive fossil fuel construction, especially in historic, agro/eco-tourism dependant, Nelson County!

The U.S. Dept. of Energy released a report in Feb., 2015 with key findings that suggest that sufficient pipeline capacity exists in VA to take us through 2030. In addition, analysts outside the energy sector claim that Dominion has over inflated the numbers they have used for electricity use in the coming years. Smart consumerism has kept electricity use far below Dominion's estimates for more than 10 years. Also, Marcellus Shale has nearly "peaked" at extraction at the low end cost level and is expected to struggle against the Permian Basin and others in competition for export. Their simply appears to be no market overseas for this gas for more than a very short time.

All it takes is a few moments to realize the legitimacy of the complaints that the residents, and, by extension, defenders of Nelson County with regard to the poorly conceived ACPipeline,

There is so much at stake for all - I pray that common sense prevails!

Nothing positive will come from this pipeline!

I agree with every concern that has been raised for the environment and agriculture but my greatest frustration with these projects is the abuse of landowners' rights. This country was built on those rights!

Please petition all to conduct a PEIS!

The reason why big oil and gas companies love these mega-projects is because they don't pay the full costs of building them. Many of the "externality" costs are passed along to people like you and me. The owners of the corporations building interstate pipelines don't live along the proposed routes; the company making the pipe itself is not in VA; the crews that will be brought in to dig the trenches and lay the pipe do not live in VA. They will make their money and go home. The farmers, foresters, and small business owners in Nelson will bear the cost of living with the pipeline and the risks it will pose to ground water contamination, loss of water pressure in private wells, landslides, siltation of waterways, and even risk of death in the case of an explosion. Hurricane Camille was an "Act of God," but adding a 42" highly explosive pipeline to our landscape would be the most serious man-made threat ever created in this area. Last, but not least, tiny but exquisite salamanders who live only in the George Washington National Forest on our western border will be doomed if the proposed pipelines destroy their habitat. If FERC allows all four of the mega-pipelines to be built (needlessly replicating the damages), then they will be playing god. WE need to make sure this does not happen!

Because the Government has given the federal powers of eminent domain to multiple pipeline companies, it is like dealing with multiple governments. If they will not cooperate with each other, they should at least be evaluated together. They should not be allowed to divide the government.

Just because the pipelines would make money for the fracking companies, does not mean they are in the public interest.

Use any EXISTING right-of-ways (highway/power) for pipelines !
